This is the final weekend of EPL action before the league breaks for international matches. The Manchester Derby will be highly anticipated, but will not take all the attention. Each side will be keen to a win before they go into a fortnight off. Read our previews, for some of the most awaited Premier League matches for the weekend.
There will be all kinds of drama as Manchester City host their rival, Manchester United, at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday. As we all expected, the Citizens outclassed Southampton with a 6-1 win last weekend. On the other hand, the Red Devils secured a hard-fought win against Bournemouth with a last minute goal. Manchester City is on a run of five straight wins in all competitions, and they are very keen to maintain the top position in the league with a win against their rivals in the heated Manchester derby.
Jose Mourinho is known to adopt a defensive approach in big matches and catch his opponent on the break. However, with the attacking prowess of their host, everybody is eager to see what tactics will be deployed by Pep Guardiola. The man to watch for the Citizens will be Aguero, who was on fire in their 6-1 win against Southampton. Aguero will pose a massive threat for the Red Devils defenders who have come under enormous criticism in the recent days. Martial will be Manchester United’s biggest threat and Mourinho will be hoping that he maintains his current fine form.
Manchester United has won three of the last five games, Manchester City winning only once, and one game ended in a draw. This is one statistic that will boost the Red Devils confidence as they head to this tough match. Manchester City, on the other hand, has already been branded as the title favourites, and their recent free-scoring form is something to reckon with.
Leicester City secured a tight 1-0 win against Cardiff City, and they will be looking to build on it when they welcome Burnley to their home, the King Power Stadium. The Foxes proved that they are a strong side in their victory over Cardiff, with Demarai Gray netting the winner for Leicester’s troops. With Leicester’s form and considering that Burnley is on a three-game losing streak, this is expected to be an entertaining match. Burnley has been weak at the back, and have conceded thirteen goals in their last three league matches. This is another reason to give Leicester some hope as they head to this game. However, the main highlight will be the fact that Leicester City will be playing for the first in their stadium since their chairman died in a helicopter accident outside the stadium.
Chelsea will want to continue with their winning run in the League to three games as they welcome Everton to the Stamford Bridge this weekend. After their 3-1 derby win over Crystal Palace, the Blues leapt ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League standings, and they will be keen to go to the top of the Premier League table. Maurizio Sarri has done an excellent job with the Blues and with Eden Hazard has overcome his injury the hosts will be keen to take all the points in the Sunday’s game. Everton will want to build on their huge win against Brighton, but with their recent struggle on the road, the hosts might be able to give the fans another reason to smile.
