Premiership Fixtures -Saturday 17th March Kick Off @ 1500hrs (Unless Stated)
With only 8 games left for Premier League teams this season the pressure is on at both ends of the table. With European places up for grabs and one of the tightest relegation battles in years, the next round of matches could be key in determining Premier League final positions.
AFC Bournemouth v West Bromwich Albion
Both clubs suffered the same fate in their last outing, going down to heavy 4-1 home defeats. Despite the loss to Tottenham Bournemouth occupy 12th position in the league, although there is no such thing as mid-table safety this season as they remain only 6 points off the relegation spots. They will be looking to top scorer Callum Wilson and the returning Jordan Ibe, who leads the way at the clubs in assists with 6, to see them past West Brom. Midfielder Marc Pugh remains an injury doubt with a calf problem.
Beleaguered West Brom remain rooted to the bottom following their defeat to Leicester. It has been a wretched run of 6 straight Premier league defeats which has seen manager Alan Pardew under intense pressure to save his job. Having taken the lead against Leicester they once again saw the advantage slip. West Brom have dropped 21 points from winning positions now, the worst in the league, although Bournemouth are a close second having dropped 19. West Brom have an extensive injury list which contains Daniel Sturridge and Gareth Barry, while Johnny Evans may be back to face Bournemouth after an illness. Salomon Rondon's goal against Leicester took his season's tally to 5 and remains the club's top scorer.
Since Bournemouth have been in the Premier League these games have been tight affairs with two wins each and a draw. West Brom won the reverse fixture back in August by a single goal from Ahmed Hegazi.
Huddersfield Town v Crystal Palace
Two more relegation-threatened sides clash 17th March with only 4 points separating the clubs. Huddersfield are currently in 15th position on 31 points while Crystal Palace occupies one of the relegation spots in 18th position on 27 points. Huddersfield will have been disappointed not to have taken advantage of 10 man Swansea in their last game, only taking a point in a goalless draw. Although 2nd overall in the Premier League in terms of possession stats, Huddersfield have consistently failed to turn this into goals having failed to score in 16 Premier League games. They will look to top scorer Steve Mounie to correct this, although are likely to be without the injured Elias Kachunga and Michael Hefele.
Crystal Palace will be looking to avenge a 3-0 home loss to the newly promoted Huddersfield back in August. They have a very extensive injury list hampering their survival battle with Scott Dann and Jason Puncheon among the longer term absentees, with fitness doubts still over Yohan Cabaye, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Joel Ward. They will have been heartened by the return of the influential Wilfried Zaha against Chelsea and he will most likely start against Huddersfield alongside top scorer Luka Milivojevic.
Stoke City v Everton
Stoke City sit in a perilous 19th position in the league, just a point away from lifting themselves out of the relegation zone. They host Everton who although in a comfortable 9th position have only won one game on their travels this season. Both sides have changed managers this season with both shoring up their respective sides defences. Sam Allardyce has moved Everton away from danger but criticism continues to follow him from fans not happy with the style of football offered.
Stoke will look to Xherdan Shaqiri to turn their fortunes around. Stoke's leading scorer with 7 goals, he also has the side's most assists with 6 and is their most influential player. Wayne Rooney heads Everton's goal charts with 10, although he has now missed three penalties this season. They have doubts over Gylfi Sigurdsson, Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gaye.
Liverpool v Watford - Kick Off @17:30
Liverpool will look to continue their push to finish 2nd when they entertain Watford. Currently, 4th in the league having lost to rivals Manchester United they will hope their impressive front three led by top scorer Mo Salah on 24 goals will power them past Watford. Missing just Nathaniel Clyne through injury Liverpool hold the edge between the two clubs in recent times with 6 wins in the last nine games played.
Watford will hope to consolidate their 10th position in their remaining games. However, having lost all five of their away matches in March in the Premier League they will need fortunes to change at Anfield. They will miss the injured Tom Cleverley, Gerard Deulofeu and Nathaniel Chalobah and will need top scorer Abdoulaye Doucoure to be at his best if they are to get anything out of their trip to Liverpool.
